Doddridge Parole Versus Probation
Parole and probation can both place a person in the community under rules, but their legal sources differ. The West Virginia Parole Board decides whether an eligible state prisoner may leave custody on parole. WVDCR Parole Services then supervises the parolee. Doddridge County probation is imposed by a court and supervised within the West Virginia Judiciary structure. A probationer may never have served a state-prison term. A person whose sentence has been discharged has reached a different point: the controlling term or supervision has ended as shown by an agency or court record.
The record must fit the claimed status. A Parole Board grant concerns conditional release, but it does not establish the exact time the person walked out of a facility. A Doddridge probation order states the court's terms. A later court discharge order is the strongest public legal proof that probation ended. The Doddridge County released inmate search and records path helps distinguish community release from a transfer when the first clue is disappearance from the active roster.
| Status | Who creates it | Best verification | How it ends |
|---|---|---|---|
| Parole | West Virginia Parole Board after a custodial sentence | Board decision, WVDCR status, and Parole Services confirmation | Sentence maximum or an authorized parole discharge |
| Probation | Doddridge County court order | Operative order and assigned probation office | Court discharge, termination, or extension order |
| Final discharge | WVDCR or the sentencing court, based on the sentence | Dated discharge certificate, DCR record, or court order | No remaining term covered by that record |
- Parole
- Conditional community release from a prison term while the sentence continues.
- Probation
- Court-ordered community supervision that may replace or follow confinement.
- Discharge
- The documented end of the sentence or supervision covered by the record.
- Absconder
- A person alleged to have stopped reporting or left supervision without permission.
Check Doddridge Post-Release Supervision
Start with the sentence source. For someone released from state custody, search the official WVDCR offender-search landing page and record the status exactly as shown. If parole is claimed, compare the offender identity and sentence data with the Board's hearing or decision information. The Board does not provide a verified public name-searchable decision database for every result, so a missing online decision is not a denial and is not discharge. Ask the Board or WVDCR to confirm the specific record.
For probation in a Doddridge County case, use the court order and the official Doddridge County court contacts. Felony matters may begin in magistrate court and continue in circuit court. Follow both case numbers. An active roster is the wrong endpoint once the person has left custody, and a VINE custody notice does not establish which probation office holds the case.
- Match the full name, birth information, offender number, facility, and Doddridge case number before drawing a conclusion.
- Read the sentencing or probation order to identify whether the court imposed probation, confinement, or both.
- For parole, confirm the Board outcome, then ask WVDCR Parole Services which Region 6 office holds the supervision file.
- For probation, ask the Doddridge Circuit Clerk to confirm the operative order and current Third Circuit assignment.
- Request the discharge order or DCR discharge record when the claim is that supervision has ended.
Important: Release from North Central Regional Jail and Correctional Facility does not, by itself, identify parole, probation, transfer, or final discharge.
Note: Save the date and source of each check because supervision assignments and public status fields can change.
Doddridge Parole Office Assignment
Doddridge County is in WVDCR Parole Services' Northern District, Region 6. Official pages for both Clarksburg and Elkins list Doddridge. That overlap means proximity is not enough to assign a parolee. Call and provide the person's identifying information. The Parole Board makes release decisions, while Parole Services handles officer and field-office questions. Mixing those roles can send a status request to the wrong office.
The official Clarksburg Parole Office page shows one documented Region 6 contact:
The captured state page helps route a call, but it does not prove that a named Doddridge parolee is assigned there. Confirm the assignment first.

Doddridge Probation Office Routing
Doddridge County has an unusual supervision route. The official Judiciary page does not present a stand-alone Doddridge probation office. Instead, it lists Third Circuit probation contacts through Pleasants and Ritchie County offices. That is the distinctive local path for probation, and it must remain separate from WVDCR parole supervision. Staffing and case allocation can change, so the clerk should confirm who holds a current case.
Chief Crystal Jenks is listed at the Pleasants County Probation Office, 301 Court Lane, Room B-1, St. Marys, WV 26170, at 304-684-9441. Deputy Danielle Stanley is listed at the Ritchie County Probation Office, 501 East Main Street, Harrisville, WV 26362, at 304-643-2164, extension 600. Those names and locations are routing contacts, not proof that either person supervises a named probationer.
A court order controls. Ask the Doddridge Circuit Clerk for the probation, revocation, extension, or discharge order tied to the case. If the person moved or the office changed, the clerk and assigned probation unit can identify the valid path. Parole Services cannot verify a county probation order merely because WVDCR once held the person.
Doddridge Absconder Status Checks
WVDCR maintains a statewide Escapees and Absconders search. Its tables may show an OID, name, and photograph. A matching absconder entry supports an unresolved supervision issue, but it does not prove present incarceration. It also does not show final discharge. Confirm the entry with Parole Services and the court or agency responsible for any warrant.
A no-hit is just as limited. It does not prove that supervision ended, that a warrant was cleared, or that the person was never supervised. Search spelling and timing can affect results. For probation, ask the issuing court. For parole, ask the assigned WVDCR office. If custody status is also at issue, check WVDCR and VINE separately because a supervision record and a jail booking answer different questions.
Note: An absconder label describes alleged noncompliance and unresolved whereabouts, not a confirmed new jail admission.
Doddridge Community Corrections Status
A state community-corrections grant announcement identifies continued funding for Doddridge County's local operation. Community corrections gives the Judiciary an option for qualifying people who need less than institutional custody. It is not another name for parole. It is also not proof that confinement, probation, or all supervision has ended.
The governing court order remains the status source. A person may report to a day program, treatment court, or community-corrections service while subject to court terms. Do not infer final discharge from program participation. Ask the Doddridge clerk for the order and the assigned program for only the status it is authorized to confirm. This local layer matters because a person may live outside a jail and still remain under a court-run structure.
Doddridge Parole Decisions and Release
A Parole Board calendar shows when a hearing is planned, not whether release was approved. The Board's published outcome terms carry different meanings. A denial continues incarceration and sets a later reinterview period. A set-up schedules another hearing, commonly within a later one-to-eleven-month period. A grant allows release after required conditions are met, while the sentence continues under supervision. Deferral or rescission can also interrupt the path before the person leaves custody.
No official public name-searchable decisions database was verified for all Doddridge County cases. Use the person's written decision, a Board inquiry, and WVDCR status. Do not turn a calendar entry into a grant. If a grant is documented, ask whether the home plan, required papers, detainers, intake, and institutional processing are complete. A serious new institutional event or contrary information may also affect the outcome before release.
The regional-jail process adds a local delay. The West Virginia Parole Board guidance says a person granted parole while in a regional jail must transfer through DCR intake and fingerprinting before actual release. It advises anticipating about seven to ten days. For someone at NCRJCF, the hearing date, decision date, transfer date, and community-release date may therefore be four distinct events. Confirm the last event with WVDCR or VINE.
Note: A parole grant authorizes a conditional path; only the later custody record establishes the physical Doddridge County release.
Doddridge Supervision Discharge Records
Leaving prison on parole is not the same as leaving parole. Under W.Va. Code §62-12-18, parole generally runs toward the sentence maximum less lawful deductions. DCR may seek early discharge after the required period and documented conduct, but it is not automatic. Life-term parole has added limits. The dated DCR or Board discharge record is what supports the end of parole.
Probation ends through the court. W.Va. Code §62-12-11 calls for an officer report and a court discharge or extension order. Obtain that order from the Doddridge Circuit Clerk. In certain cases, another supervised-release term may start after incarceration, probation, and parole end, so read the full sentencing record before stating that all supervision is over.
The official parole-discharge statute is shown in this West Virginia Legislature source:
The statute separates release to parole from discharge from parole, which is the key distinction when confirming a Doddridge County supervision record.
